"By respectfully serving all, arousing the dharma of eliminating arrogance; with respect to body, life, and wealth, arousing the dharmas of the three solidities; within the six recollections, arousing the dharma of mindful reflection; within the six harmonies and reverences, arousing a straightforward mind." Quelling all arrogance to cultivate reverence; abhorring the three falsities to cultivate the three solidities; internally reflecting upon the six recollections and externally according with the six harmonies—this is what is called the Dharma-gift. As for the six recollections, Zhao says: Recollection of the Buddha, Dharma, Saṅgha, giving, precepts, and gods are the six recollections. As for the six harmonies, Zhao says: Arousing karmas of body, speech, and mind with a compassionate mind constitute three; fourth is sharing any heavy sustenance received with others; fifth is keeping the precepts purely; sixth is cultivating the wisdom of the exhaustion of outflows. Without a straightforward mind, there is no way to possess the six dharmas. Without the six dharmas, there is no way to harmonize the multitudes. If the multitudes are not harmonious, it is not the path of reverence and compliance.
