Śāriputra asked the goddess: "How long before you will attain anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi?" This sixth part clarifies the difference between attainment and non-attainment with respect to cultivation. Because the Hīnayāna advances in cultivation, it has severing and attainment; the Mahāyāna is markless, without cultivation, without realization, and without attainment. The text has two parts: first, questioning; second, challenging non-attainment. The first contains five parts; this is the first. Zhao says: "Bodily marks and passing away or being born may be like illusions, but the true path of bodhi must have reality. Therefore he asks how long before she will accomplish it."
