Thereupon Vimalakīrti said to Mañjuśrī: "We may go together to see the Buddha, paying homage, serving, and making offerings alongside the bodhisattvas." / This second [sub-part], going to the Buddha, has four [points]. First, proposing to go. [Kumāra]jīva says: "Vimalakīrti's exhortation to see the Buddha together has an intention that can be traced: first, seeing their sincerity, he wished to fulfill their original intent; second, he wished to have [the Buddha] confirm what had been uttered concerning the fragrant rice; third, because they harbored superiority while traveling from afar, it was fitting to have them truly return, so they went together to the Buddha's place to consult and request the Dharma."
