"Ānanda, if I were to explain the meaning of these three phrases extensively, even with a lifespan of a kalpa you could not fully receive it. Even if sentient beings filling the great trichiliocosm were all like Ānanda, foremost in learning and having attained mindfulness and dhāraṇī, all these people with a lifespan of a kalpa still could not receive it. Thus, Ānanda, the Buddhas' anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi has no limit; their wisdom and eloquence are inconceivable." Below, the third part directly explains the subduing of Ānanda. The text has three parts. This first part explains that just as one person cannot receive it, even as many as those filling the trichiliocosm cannot receive it. 'Thus, Ānanda,' and so forth, explains that because bodhi is boundless, the merits of the body, wisdom, expedient, real, responsive, and transformative are inconceivable—how could a śrāvaka measure them?
