"Furthermore, because they are complete in blessings and virtue, they do not abide in the unconditioned; because they are complete in wisdom, they do not exhaust the conditioned." Below, this is the second part, closely explaining the reasons. Zhao says: "Above, it was directly explained that bodhisattvas do not exhaust the conditioned and do not abide in the unconditioned, but the reasons why they do not exhaust it and why they do not abide in it were not explained. In the practice of a mahāsattva, each practice has its cause, and the marvelous aim resides therein; therefore, they are again explained in contrast. The accumulation of virtue must involve traversing the ford of conditioned existence; if one abides in the unconditioned, blessings and virtue will not be complete. The clarity of wisdom must stem from breadth; if one discards the conditioned, wisdom will not be complete."
