'Exhausting the subtle' means exhausting the profound subtleties of the true mark, the true substance. 'Carrying transformations to the utmost' means carrying the changes and transformations of provisional response to the utmost, the provisional function. This pertains to the name; hence it says 'the designation of the wondrously transcendent'. Above, this distinguishes the name 'inconceivable'. 'Purport' means the intent. 'Abyssal' means deep. 'Profound' means far-reaching. 'Words and images' means names and characteristics. This sentence clarifies the purport. As for the 'three emptineses', they are signlessness and wishlessness [along with emptiness]. The two vehicles discard existence and preserve emptiness, whereas the middle way holds emptiness and existence as non-dual; hence it is not something they can conceive. This sentence clarifies the principle. 'Multitude of enumerations' refers to the myriad phenomena. The principle transcends external affairs; hence it says 'beyond words'. This sentence clarifies breaking the consciousnesses of the triple realm that grasp characteristics and give rise to thoughts, which is called 'having a mind'. The true realm is devoid of characteristics; hence the minded naturally ceases. This sentence clarifies wisdom. Regarding 'non-action and so forth', the dharmakāya is non-active, yet responds to beings and acts, which the deluded cannot fathom; this is called 'inconceivable'. The foregoing is a general clarification.
