"A bodhisattva has no mind": this does not mean being mindless like stone or wood. It is simply that because ordinary persons possess a discriminating mind that grasps signs, they are said to have a mind. A bodhisattva constantly contemplates the signless, non-discriminating mind, yet through skillful means responds to beings and speaks in conventional terms and signs; therefore, he is said to have no mind.
