that untying them entails stages. Regarding "knowing all dharmas neither grasps nor relinquishes": The commentary says: "producing a mind of discrimination" means discriminating marks while being markless, only then entering the true mark. The mark of the true mark is just the single mark. The single mark is markless; provisionally named to communicate with beings, it is called "one". Regarding "the donor's equal mind": Giving to a buddha entails deep respect; giving to the poor entails profound compassion. With genuine and profound compassion and exalted, weighty sincerity, both shatter saṃsāra and reach great nirvāṇa. Therefore it says that by being equal, the fields of merit share the same mark. Regarding "without any discrimination": All marks are non-marks—this is the Tathāgata's body. The five aggregates are all empty—this is the poor man's constitution. The Dharma-nature is non-dual; the giving and the retribution are both forgotten. Giving in this manner is therefore without discrimination.
