“Having seen the Buddhas, his heart rejoices greatly, and he further recites and practices the Mahāyāna scriptures. Due to the power of the Mahāyāna, a voice in the sky praises him, saying: ‘Excellent, excellent, good son! By the causes and conditions of your merit from practicing the Mahāyāna, you are able to see the Buddhas. Although you now obtain the sight of the Buddhas, the World-Honoured Ones, you cannot yet see Śākyamuni Buddha, the emanation Buddhas, and the stūpa of Prabhūtaratna Buddha.’ Having heard the voice in the sky, he again diligently recites and practices the Mahāyāna scriptures. Because of reciting the Mahāyāna vaipulya sūtras, he immediately sees in a dream Śākyamuni Buddha along with the great assembly on Gṛdhrakūṭa Mountain preaching the Lotus Sūtra and expounding the meaning of the one reality.
