“At that time, having heard these words, the practitioner again joins his palms, casts his five limbs to the ground, and speaks these words: ‘The World-Honoured One, the Samyaksaṃbuddha, now bears witness for me, and the vaipulya scriptures serve as the master of compassion; I only pray that you look upon me and hear what I say. From many kalpas down to this present body, through the causes and conditions of the ear faculty, I heard sounds and was deluded and attached as glue adheres to grass; when hearing evil things, I aroused the poison of affliction, everywhere deluded and attached without a moment's pause. Relying on this cavity of sounds, I exhausted my conscious spirit and plunged into the three destinies. Only now do I awaken to this, and before the World-Honoured Ones I confess and repent.’
