"If a bhikṣu personally begs for thread and causes an unrelated person to weave it into a robe, it is a niḥsargika-prāyaścittika." / This complete prātimokṣa text contains four clauses: first, the offending person; second, personally begging for thread (if it is a householder's thread, it infringes the subsequent precept; hence it must be personally begged; supposing one does not beg, [weaving] one's own thread should be light); third, relying on influence to coerce weaving (if seeking and obtaining it through legitimate principles there is no offense, and if giving payment it is also not an offense); fourth, defining the offense. Below, the detailed explanation of the first two clauses is obvious. As for "causing an unrelated weaver to weave it into a robe," the *Vibhāṣā* notes three clauses regarding an unrelated weaver. This precept directly addresses directly harming the weaver, which incurs forfeiture; begging thread from an unrelated person incurs a duṣkṛta. Combining the weaver being related or unrelated yields three clauses: if the weaver is related, there are two clauses lacking the requisite condition; the third is where both are related, which is without offense. Hence there are only eight clauses. Directly harming the weaver incurs a prāyaścittika, and concurrently harming the thread-owner—by mentioning one offense, it encompasses both heavy and light. Thus it merely states that committing it is a "niḥsargika-prāyaścittika". Fourth, the limits of defining the offense, and the procedure for forfeiture and confession, are as explained in detail in the Vinaya. Among non-offenses, the Vinaya states: if both are relatives; or if personally weaving a bowl-bag, leather sandal bag, needle case, meditation band, waistband, cap, leg-coverings, tweezers, hot towel, or wrapping cloth for leather sandals—none of these is an offense.
