二十二僧雖差教戒比丘尼乃至日沒　難陀善說尼眾樂法。逼暮還城。城門以開明旦早入。守門人譏嫌。因是結戒。若教尼不得至日沒。若日沒生沒想。沒生不沒想。若沒生疑想。教者悉犯墮。若未沒生沒想。若疑想。教者悉犯突。若若未沒生未沒想。教無犯。

[Rule] Twenty-two: Although appointed by the saṃgha, instructing and admonishing nuns until sunset. Nanda spoke well, and the assembly of nuns delighted in the Dharma. As dusk pressed on, they returned to the city; the city gates were [shut and only] opened at dawn for them to enter early, and the gatekeepers criticized them. For this reason, the precept was formulated: If one instructs nuns, one must not do so until sunset. If it is sunset and one perceives it as sunset, if it is sunset and one perceives it as not sunset, or if it is sunset and one doubts, if one instructs, in all [such cases] one commits a pāyattika. If it is not yet sunset and one perceives it as sunset, or if one doubts, if one instructs, in all [such cases] one commits a duṣkṛta. If it is not yet sunset and one perceives it as not yet sunset, instructing is without offense.
