The second contemplation is according to the place of eating: If one constantly eats by begging, [one should say,] 'I constantly beg for food.' If one eats after having already eaten, [one should say,] 'I myself eat after having already eaten.' If one eats saṅgha food, [one should say,] 'I eat saṅgha food.' If one eats with no fixed place, [one should say,] 'Below, I turn my back on an invitation to eat.' If there is only one invitation, one resolves to attend it oneself. If there are many invitation places and one cannot attend all of them oneself, one attends one invitation oneself, and for the remainder one should send a person to attend. As for the person sent to attend a certain place, both bhikṣus and śrāmaṇeras are permissible. One performs the procedure, saying: 'Venerable so-and-so, a dānapati has invited me to the five staple foods. Having business, I cannot go; I now give it to you.' If no person is available, according to the Mahāsāṃghika and Mahīśāsaka [vinayas], one should perform a mental resolution to relinquish it: 'I, bhikṣu so-and-so, this morning a dānapati gave me the five staple foods. I transfer and give them to bhikṣu so-and-so. The dānapati has no claim on me; I shall eat.' (If one turns one's back on the former donor's invitation and turns to the later donor's, one should say this three times; if one turns one's back on the later and turns to the former donor's, one says it once).
