2.29

麁惡語戒　若說二道。口言麁獷。心有欲念。皆得僧殘　十誦云。有比丘。見女人著赤衣。生不正露形。便言優婆夷大赤。女人不解答言。衣新染故赤。心疑。佛言。得偷蘭。

The precept against coarse and wicked speech. If one speaks of the two passages, with coarse words from the mouth and lustful thoughts in the mind, all incur a saṃghāvaśeṣa. The Daśādhyāya-vinaya states: “A monk saw a woman wearing red clothes, conceived improper thoughts of nakedness, and said, ‘Upāsikā, you are very red.’ The woman, not understanding, replied, ‘The clothes are freshly dyed, therefore they are red.’ Doubt arose in his mind. The Buddha said: ‘He incurs a sthūlātyaya.’”
