Regarding heavy property, minor discrepancies and differences in the Vinaya texts have caused monks of later generations to engage in numerous disputes. At its source, the great teaching is of a single flavor, but as the holy intent diverged, one-sided attachments have led to deficiencies. Nevertheless, where practices do not involve grave errors, one may proceed as one sees fit. Yet if one wishes to determine and divide the light from the heavy, nothing can prove it except the Vinaya texts. If one interprets the meaning according to personal inclination, one risks violating the holy intent; but if one decides based on the textual classifications, there will certainly be no contradiction. Therefore, I respectfully explain it following the four Vinayas and their treatises. If one wishes to implement it in any place, one should judge by consulting the text; one may also use the karmans according to the respective schools.
