The second "furthermore" explains cultivating the three marks, divided into three parts: 1. Generally indicating the sūtra phrase; 2. Explaining the text of the sūtra, divided into four: (1) Explaining the general meaning, (2) Explaining the immeasurable, (3) Explaining constancy and thoroughness, (4) Explaining dwelling stably in correct mindfulness; 3. Explaining the reason for speaking of the three kinds of marks of cultivation, divided into two: (1) Question, (2) Answer, which has three alternative gateways. The first gateway is divided into four: a. Indication, b. Listing the names, c. Explanation, d. Conclusion. The second gateway is divided into three: a. Explaining the correct path, b. Explaining the path of contemplation, c. Explaining the path of realization. The third gateway is divided into four: a. Practice heading toward merit, b. Practice heading toward nirvāṇa, c. Practice of swift fulfillment, d. Explaining the order of precedence between calming and insight.
