Twenty-five: Explication of the verses demonstrating all the benefits of leaving behind the causes of duḥkha and so forth has three parts: 1. Indicating the sūtra phrases has two parts: (1) Clarifying the benefits of leaving behind the causes of duḥkha. (2) Clarifying the faults of not leaving behind the causes of duḥkha. 2. Explaining the sūtra text has five parts: (1) Clarifying the sovereign king, which has two parts: [1] Indicating. [2] Explaining. (2) Clarifying the time of defilement. (3) Clarifying defilement through grasping for oneself. (4) Clarifying the absence of defilement, which has two parts: [1] Clarifying the characteristics of defilement. [2] Clarifying the characteristics of non-defilement, which has two parts: a. Clarifying the absence of causal defilement. b. Clarifying the absence of fruitional defilement. (5) Clarifying foolish worldlings, which has two parts: [1] Clarifying the cause. [2] Clarifying the fruit. 3. Clarifying the summarized meaning has three parts: (1) Indicating.
