五門之中第三分別苦根有無分三　一明依不斷苦根分二。一問。二答　二依現行分二。一問。二答　三顯過分三。一明無差別過分二。一明正義。二引經。二明無尋伺寂靜過。三例餘根明斷差別。

Among the five gates, the third, analyzing the presence and absence of the pain faculty, has three parts: 1. explaining [it] based on not abandoning the pain faculty has two parts: (1) question, (2) answer; 2. based on active manifestation has two parts: (1) question, (2) answer; 3. revealing faults has three parts: (1) explaining the fault of having no distinction has two parts: a. explaining the correct meaning, b. citing the sūtra; (2) explaining the fault of lacking the pacification of vitarka and vicāra; (3) explaining the distinction of abandonment by analogy with the other faculties.
