The fourth gate, on the four factors of dwelling with clear comprehension in holding the robes and alms-bowl (saṃghāṭī-cīvara-pātra-dhāraṇa), has four parts: 1. General presentation of the sūtra phrases; 2. Specific questions, divided into four as in the treatise; 3. Specific answers, divided into four: (1) Answering the meaning of holding the great robe (saṃghāṭī), divided into two: a. Clarifying the substance of the robe, b. Clarifying the meaning of holding it, divided into two: (a) Utilization, (b) Care and preservation; (2) Answering the meaning of holding the middle and lower robes and so forth, divided into two: a. Clarifying the substance of the robes, divided into two: <i> Clarifying the substance of the middle and lower robes, <ii> Clarifying the substance of extra robes; b. Clarifying the meaning of holding them, divided into two as in the treatise; (3) Answering the meaning of holding the bowl, divided into two: a. Clarifying the substance of the bowl, b. Clarifying the meaning of holding it, divided into two as in the treatise; (4) Answering the section on dwelling with clear comprehension, divided into two: a. Clarifying the characteristics of clear comprehension, divided into two: (a) Clarifying the correct meaning, divided into four: <i> Based on intrinsic nature, <ii> Based on locus, <iii> Based on time, <iv> Characteristics of clear comprehension based on variety of modalities; (b) Conclusion; b.
