Within the seven major headings of Chapter Ten on Morality, the sixth heading, on the activities and functions of the three kinds of morality, has three parts: 1. explaining the mutual subsumption of the nine moralities and the three moralities, with two parts: (1) presentation, (2) explanation; 2. explaining the functions of the three moralities, with two parts: (1) presentation, (2) explanation, which has three parts: i. explaining the activity of restraint-morality based on generating higher mental training, ii. explaining the activity of the morality of gathering the wholesome based on obtaining the vast Buddha-dharmas such as the ten powers, iii. explaining the activity of the morality of benefiting sentient beings based on maturing all sentient beings; 3. explaining the general conclusion, with two parts: (1) presentation, (2) explanation, which has three parts: i. concluding the functions of restraint-morality, ii. concluding the functions of the morality of gathering wholesome qualities, iii. concluding the functions of the morality of benefiting sentient beings.
