Of the nine sections of the fourth part, the detailed explanations, the third, clarifying difficult energy, has four parts: (1) general inquiry; (2) brief answer; (3) individual explanations, which have three parts: i. clarifying difficult energy based on abandoning factors that are to be eliminated, which has three parts: (i) establishing the cause, which has two parts: [a] establishing the cause based on relinquishing attachment to requisites of enjoyment; [b] establishing the cause based on relinquishing attachment to the view of selfhood; (ii) revealing the fruit; (iii) summary; ii. clarifying difficult energy based on the limits of existence (yāvadbhāvikatā), which has three parts: (i) establishing the cause; (ii) revealing the fruit; (iii) summary; iii. clarifying difficult energy based on the suchness of the objective sphere (yathāvadbhāvikatā), which has three parts: (i) establishing the cause; (ii) revealing the fruit; (iii) summary; (4) clarifying the causes of the three kinds of difficult energy, which has three parts: i. establishing the cause of the first difficult energy based on taking existent nature as the objective support; ii. establishing the cause of the second difficult energy based on the mind of compassion; iii. establishing the cause of the third difficult energy based on prajñā.
