分十四中第七依過去等義明根差別分三　一明是過去過去為義根分二。一問分二如論。二答分二。一答過去相。二答非過去義　二明是過去現在為義根分二。一問分二如論。二答分二。一答是過去未來為義。二答是現在過去未來為義　三明是現在現在為義根分二。一問分二如論。二答分四。一答現在相。二答一分是未來三世為義根。三答是未來非未來為義根。四例答苦根。

Within the fourteen divisions, the seventh, clarifying the distinctions of the faculties based on the meanings of past and so forth, has three parts: 1. Clarifying the faculties that are past and have the past as their referent, in two parts: (1) question, in two parts as in the treatise; (2) answer, in two parts: a. answering the characteristic of the past, b. answering the meaning of non-past; 2. Clarifying the faculties that are past and have the present as their referent, in two parts: (1) question, in two parts as in the treatise; (2) answer, in two parts: a. answering being past and having the future as referent, b. answering being present and having the past and future as referents; 3. Clarifying the faculties that are present and have the present as their referent, in two parts: (1) question, in two parts as in the treatise; (2) answer, in four parts: a. answering the characteristic of the present; b. answering that one portion is a faculty in the future having the three time periods as its referent; c. answering the faculty being future and having non-future as its referent; d. by analogy answering the suffering faculty.
