觸似彼起故名分別者。言分別者即領似義。觸生似彼順生功能。領似變異故名分別。如子似父名分別父。非謂能緣之分別也。

Regarding 'Sparśa arises resembling that, and therefore is called discernment': 'discernment' here has the meaning of receiving and resembling. Sparśa arises resembling that function of conforming to arising; receiving and resembling the transformation, it is called discernment. Just as a son resembling his father is called 'discerning the father,' it does not mean the discernment of an apprehending [mind].
