中二一切不善心俱隨應皆得小大俱起者。謂如下說。小七唯是不善性收。小三大八通於二性。小七既是不善性收。故與中二皆相應起。小三大八不善性者。中二相應無記性者。即與中二而不俱起為顯是義置隨應言。

"The two medium [upakleśas] accompany all unwholesome minds; as appropriate, they are all able to arise together with the minor and major": as explained below, the seven minor are subsumed only under the unwholesome nature, while the three minor and eight major permeate the two natures. Since the seven minor are subsumed only under the unwholesome nature, they all arise in association with the two medium. As for the unwholesome states among the three minor and eight major, they are associated with the two medium; those of an indeterminate nature do not arise together with the two medium. To indicate this meaning, the words "as appropriate" are set down.
