既許大八遍諸染心展轉小中皆容起者。謂即染寬而不善狹。染通不善無記二性。故但不善皆是染心。自為染心非是不善。是故大八遍諸染心。既通無記不善二性。由不善故小中俱也。以彼小十不俱起故。由是八大容互相應。

"Since the eight major are accepted as permeating all defiled minds, they can all mutually arise with the minor and the medium": that is, defiled is broad while unwholesome is narrow; defilement permeates both the unwholesome and the indeterminate natures. Therefore, whenever it is unwholesome, it is a defiled mind, but being a defiled mind does not mean it is necessarily unwholesome. Hence the eight major permeate all defiled minds; since they permeate both the indeterminate and unwholesome natures, by virtue of the unwholesome they accompany the minor and medium. Because those ten minor do not arise together, the eight major can mutually associate with each other.
