論。云何為五至勸修利益分　述曰。此數列名也。言不自起製必有由。名為因緣。部外餘取故稱為分。由致既□略標經要令物生信。名立義分。宗要既略。次宜廣釋令其生解。名解釋分。依釋生解。次宜起行。令起行故名修行信分。雖示行儀。鈍根懈慢。舉益勸修。名勸修利益分。

[Treatise:] "What are the five? ... the part on encouraging practice and the benefits." / [Exposition:] This lists the names according to the number. / Words do not arise on their own; their composition must have a reason. This is called "causes and conditions." Because it is taken apart from other sections, it is called a "part." / Since the reasons have already been [established], briefly stating the essential points of the sūtra to cause beings to give rise to faith is called the "part on establishing the meaning." / Since the essential tenets have been stated briefly, they should next be explained extensively to cause them to generate understanding; this is called the "part on explanation." / Relying on the explanation generates understanding; next, practice should be initiated. Because it causes practice to be initiated, it is called the "part on practicing the faith." / Although the deportment of practice has been shown, those of dull faculties are lazy and arrogant; presenting the benefits to encourage practice is called the "part on encouraging practice and the benefits."
