2.84

論。此非心識至自在用義故　述曰。此名所現難思通外難也。謂外難云。凡言色者質礙為體分齊為相相妨為用。如何各別皆無分齊不相防耶。故此答云。非心識等。

[Treatise:] This is not [accessible to] mind and consciousness ... because it has the meaning of sovereign function.
[Exposition:] This explains that what is manifested is inconceivable, answering an external objection. The external objection states: "Generally, form takes physical obstruction as its essence, delimitation as its mark, and mutual hindrance as its function. How can they be mutually distinct, all without delimitation, and not obstruct each other?" Therefore, this replies, "It is not [accessible to] mind and consciousness..." and so forth.
