4.87

論。立大誓願至盡於未來　釋曰。此因悲心立願也。盡欲等者。廣大願也。不限等者。長時願也。初中又含第一之願。言度脫者第一心故。

[Treatise:] and make great vows, [wishing to liberate all realms of sentient beings down to the end of the future, without limiting the number of kalpas, for they take all sentient beings as their own self, yet do not grasp at the characteristic of sentient beings.] [Commentary:] This is establishing vows on the basis of the compassionate mind. "Wishing to... down to..." and so forth is the vast vow. "Without limiting..." and so forth is the vow of long duration. The first also contains the supreme vow, because speaking of "liberating" is the supreme aspiration.
