5.62

論。復次若人至眾多障礙　釋曰。次下第二除方便。於中有二。先障後治。此初也。若人雖修信心等者。此舉內因之業障也。言重罪者。即犯四重。惡業障者。即五逆罪。由此二種罪惡因故。故修行時諸障皆起。如涅槃等諸經所說。魔邪病苦所惱等者。即惑障礙之根障也。世間事務所牽等者。即舉纏縛之惑障也。有如是等者。總舉諸障顯眾多也。

The treatise says: "Furthermore, if a person..." up to "numerous obstacles."
The commentary says: Next below is the second [part], eradicating obstacles through expedients. Within this there are two: first the obstacles, and next the remedies. This is the first. "If a person, though cultivating faith..." introduces the karmic obstacles of internal causes. "Heavy offenses" refers to committing the four gravities. "Grave karmic obstacles" refers to the five sins of immediate retribution. Because of these two kinds of sinful and evil causes, when cultivating the practice all obstacles arise, as explained in sūtras such as the Nirvāṇa. "Troubled by demonic evils and the suffering of illness..." refers to the root obstacles of afflictive hindrances. "Drawn by worldly affairs..." introduces the afflictive hindrances of fetters. "There being such as these..." summarily introduces all the obstacles, showing their great number.
