論染心者有六種　述曰。次顯染心緣起之相。於中有二。初總標。後別釋。此初也。此即釋上無明所染有染心句。前文所言無明所染有其染心。此染心者有其六種。然其六染即上意識及五種意。前明依因緣起義故。從細至麁而說次第　今欲兼辯治斷義故從麁至細次第而明。故初第一執相應染。第六根本業不相應染也。

Treatise: Defiled mind has six kinds. Commentary: Next, revealing the marks of the conditioned arising of defiled mind. Therein are two parts: first, a general statement, and second, a distinct explanation. This is the first. This explains the previous sentence, 'being defiled by avidyā, there is a defiled mind'. What was previously stated as 'defiled by avidyā, there is its defiled mind'—this defiled mind has six kinds. Yet these six defilements are the aforementioned mental consciousness and five kinds of mind. Previously, to clarify the meaning of conditioned arising relying on causes, they were explained in sequence from subtle to coarse. Now, wishing to concurrently distinguish the meaning of countermeasure and abandonment, they are clarified in sequence from coarse to subtle. Therefore, the first is defilement associated with attachment, and the sixth is fundamental karmic unassociated defilement.)
