若修戒時遠離等者。謂起慳恚犯菩薩戒故。修戒時無慳恚故。則於戒中有施忍也。戒能止進。止進即勤。既離懈怠有精進也。一心持戒故無散動。具正信解故無邪見。無亂無邪故有定慧。

Regarding "if, when cultivating morality, one distances oneself from, and so forth": Giving rise to stinginess and resentment violates the bodhisattva precepts; therefore, because there is no stinginess or resentment when cultivating morality, morality contains giving and forbearance. Precepts can arrest and advance; arresting and advancing is diligence itself, and since one is free from indolence, there is vigor. Maintaining morality with single-mindedness entails freedom from distraction; possessing correct faith and understanding entails freedom from wrong views. Free of distraction and free of error, there are dhyāna and wisdom.
