1.153

昔於眾生起大悲等者。由行施時令彼獲得命色力安無礙辨喜。故自果位得身最勝。能令見者生歡喜也。由修戒時普於一切無諸染為滅苦因。故獲淨身遍滅諸苦。由修忍時遠離嗔怒心無分別離翳障故。色相圓滿普施光明。由修精進於一切處勤行利益滅眾生障。故於果位能分身等。由修定時身心寂靜。見者歡喜而生善心。故於果位普歡喜等。由般若故能令自他離愚癡闇得智慧明。故於果位得舒光等。

Regarding "having formerly given rise to great compassion toward sentient beings, and so forth": Because at the time of practicing giving one caused them to obtain life, physical appearance, strength, ease, unhindered eloquence, and joy, in one's own fruit-stage one obtains the supreme body, able to make those who see it give rise to joy. Because when cultivating morality one was universally free from defilements for the sake of extinguishing the causes of suffering, one obtains a pure body that universally extinguishes all suffering. Because when cultivating forbearance one distanced oneself from anger, had an undifferentiated mind, and was free of obscurations, one's physical form is complete and universally sheds light. Because when cultivating vigor one diligently performed benefit in all places and extinguished the hindrances of sentient beings, in the fruit-stage one can emanate transformation bodies and so forth. Because when cultivating dhyāna body and mind were tranquil, making those who saw it rejoice and give rise to wholesome thoughts, in the fruit-stage one universally causes joy and so forth. Because of prajñā, one could cause oneself and others to depart from the darkness of delusion and obtain the illumination of wisdom, so in the fruit-stage one attains the radiance of light and so forth.
