次依於忍印取無等者。謂忍不同有其三品。下忍起時印所取無順觀能取。中忍轉位正觀能取。如彼所取決定是無。上忍起位審定印可能取是空。今此文中闕上忍文。下文即具如次文。今重印可決定是無。即是下忍。又能取心對境已下。即是中忍。此忍雖亦印能取等。即是上忍。

"Next, relying on forbearance, confirming [the object] as non-existent..." and so forth: That is, forbearance differs into three grades. When lower forbearance arises, it confirms that the grasped is non-existent, consonantly contemplating the grasper. When changing to the stage of medium forbearance, it directly contemplates the grasper as decisively non-existent, just like the grasped. At the stage when higher forbearance arises, it definitively confirms that the grasper is empty. Now, this text lacks the passage on higher forbearance; the subsequent text provides it in full, as in the next passage. Now, re-confirming that it is decisively non-existent is lower forbearance. Furthermore, "the grasping mind facing the object" and below is medium forbearance. Although this forbearance also confirms the grasper, etc., that is higher forbearance.
