"Yet still unable to eliminate the marks of emptiness and existence" means: the previous three stages contemplate the non-existence of the two graspers, all forming the practice and view of conventional existence and substantial non-existence; hence, the worldly supreme dharmas doubly confirm the two emptinesses and also obtain the contemplative wisdom of conventional existence and substantial non-existence. Conventional existence is the dependent nature (paratantra-svabhāva), which is the mark of existence; substantial non-existence is the imagined nature (parikalpita-svabhāva), which is called the mark of non-existence. When realizing the true principle, both marks are extinguished; hence, the worldly supreme dharmas have not yet realized truth.
