然斷煩惱總有二種等者。即是前四轉依義中。當其第一能轉道也。斷種等即能斷道。等即等取無堪任性。二但折伏即能伏道。應以前義委釋此也。

Regarding "now, abandoning afflictions is of two general kinds" and so forth: this corresponds to the first, the path capable of transformation, among the previously mentioned four meanings of the transformation of the basis (āśrayaparivṛtti). "Severing seeds and so forth" is the path capable of severing; "and so forth" includes unfitness. The second, "merely subduing," is the path capable of subduing. This should be explained in detail using the previous meanings.
