1.81

勝故無盡故等者。謂顯大乘超餘二乘。故以初句標顯二義。欲顯初句勝無盡義。故以後句而重釋之。由能攝益他諸有情。是故大乘名為最勝。由雖涅槃利他不息。是故大乘復名無盡。

Regarding “because it is superior, because it is inexhaustible,” and so forth: this indicates that the Mahāyāna transcends the other two vehicles; therefore, the first phrase sets forth these two meanings. Desiring to clarify the meanings of “superior” and “inexhaustible” in the first phrase, the later phrases reiterate and explain them: because it can gather and benefit other sentient beings, the Mahāyāna is named supreme; because its benefiting of others never ceases even in nirvāṇa, the Mahāyāna is again named inexhaustible.
