Tenth, Gate of Dedication of Merit and Generating Aspirations. After the practitioner in this world has cultivated and performed the Buddha-work for future [attainment], whatever roots of goodness there are in a single thought-moment are not merely for self-benefit; they are made equal to the realm of phenomena, wishing that all may share in them, dedicating them toward the bodhi of true and genuine awakening. Having first marked this intention and completed the recitation, bowing, and praising, one then recites the Tiantai dedication of merit, generating the aspiration: 'May the boundless excellent causes of the recitations performed up to now be dispersed to moisten the realm of phenomena, so that all together may attain rebirth of the highest grade in the land of Amitābha Buddha. Having arrived in that land, may we obtain the six supernormal powers, travel through the ten directions, attend upon all buddhas, constantly hear the unsurpassed true Dharma of the Mahāyāna, cultivate Samantabhadra's boundless practices and vows, and with the provisions of merit and wisdom swiftly made complete, quickly accomplish unsurpassed, complete, and perfect bodhi. May all adversaries and kin throughout the realm of phenomena share in this ocean of vows!' Having generated the aspiration with utmost sincerity, take refuge and bow with head to the ground to the western Amitābha Buddha. (Then chant as appropriate and disperse.)
