2.269

爾時賢護白佛言。我等於如來滅後後五百歲。末法沙門顛倒時。正法欲滅時。誹謗正法時。破壞正法持戒損減時。破戒增長時。正法損減時。非法增長時　眾生邪見時。能於如來所說妙三昧。界惟義理。為他廣說。心不知足。是故我聞佛說。未來世中。正法壞滅。悲哀泣淚。而白佛言。能於如來所說受持者。我皆攝護。令得增長。

At that time, Bhadrapāla said to the Buddha: 'During the final five-hundred-year period after the Tathāgata's passing, at the time when the śramaṇas of the final Dharma are perverted, when the true Dharma is about to perish, when the true Dharma is slandered, when the true Dharma is destroyed, when keeping precepts diminishes, when breaking precepts increases, when the true Dharma diminishes, when non-Dharma increases, and when sentient beings hold wrong views, we shall be able, regarding the wondrous samādhi expounded by the Tathāgata, to fathom the principles and expound them widely for others without satiety in mind. For this reason, having heard the Buddha speak of the destruction and perishing of the true Dharma in future ages, I shed tears of sorrow and lamentation, and say to the Buddha: Regarding those who can accept and uphold what the Tathāgata has expounded, I shall embrace and protect them all, causing them to increase.'
