3.84

上來依諸聖教略述讚揚五會法事軌儀。以為三卷。前之兩卷。其有明文。意遣群疑。歸心淨國。眾等若念誦讚行。即依前卷迴向發願文。即便應知。時大歷九年冬初十月。於北京龍興寺。再述淨土念誦觀門滓騰神淨方證妙覺之圓明。共處蓮花之會。願諸智者。深信修行。厭離輪迴生死世界。專稱彼佛。同往淨方。疾證菩提。豈非善哉樂哉矣。有緣之者。願共歸西。根性有差。各隨業云爾。

The above has briefly expounded and praised the liturgy and rites of the Five Tempos according to the various sacred teachings, making three fascicles in all. The preceding two fascicles have clear textual authorities, intended to dispel the multitude of doubts and turn minds toward the pure land. If the assembly recites, chants, praises, and practices, they should proceed according to the text of dedication of merit and generating vows in the preceding fascicles, and so should understand. At that time, in the early winter, the tenth month of the ninth year of the Dali era [774 CE], at Longxing Temple in the Northern Capital, [Fazhao] once again expounded the contemplative gate of reciting the Buddha's name for the Pure Land: casting off defilements and soaring in spirit to the pure direction, to realize the perfect illumination of wondrous awakening and dwell together in the assembly of lotuses. May all the wise deeply believe and practice, feel revulsion toward and leave the saṃsāric world of birth and death, exclusively invoke that Buddha, go together to the pure direction, and swiftly realize bodhi. How could this not be good and joyful! May those with karmic affinity return together to the west; though faculties and natures differ, each follows their karma accordingly.
