2.51

Sentient beings are beset by hardships,
Immeasurable suffering oppressing their bodies.
The power of Avalokiteśvara's wondrous wisdom
Can rescue from the suffering of the world. (and so forth)
In disputes and lawsuits before officials,
Or amid terror in battle arrays,
If one is mindful of that power of Avalokiteśvara,
All enemies will retreat and scatter.
Wondrous sound, Avalokiteśvara,
Brahmā-sound, sea-tide sound,
Surpassing those sounds of the world;
Therefore, one should constantly be mindful of him.
Thought after thought, do not generate doubt;
Avalokiteśvara, pure and holy one,
In suffering, distress, and the peril of death,
Is able to serve as a reliance and protector.
Endowed with all meritorious virtues,
With eyes of compassion he looks upon sentient beings;
A sea of accumulated blessings, immeasurable;
Therefore, one should prostrate with head to ground.
