The Buddha told Mañjuśrī: “After my extinction, if there is a good man or good woman who gives rise to a single thought of faith, and if they can copy, read, and recite even one verse, minding these marks, recollecting these marks, and contemplating these marks, with their faithful mind perfected, in the space of a single thought they will eradicate the grave sins of birth and death spanning kalpas as numerous as dust particles in ninety billion nayutas of Ganges sands. They will forever leave behind dark hindrances, and clearly know that the Tathāgata is eternal and never extinguished.”
