3.42

At that time, Śākyamuni Buddha addressed the great assembly: "Listen carefully! I shall now explain the original causes and conditions for your sake. In the past, immeasurable kalpas ago, under the Buddha Prabhāprabhāsa (Wonderful Light), I heard these names of the buddhas of the ten directions and the three times. My mind was filled with joy; I joined my palms and received them atop my head. In place after place, I taught and transformed immeasurable and boundless sentient beings, [causing them to] hear these buddhas' names. At that time, among the assembly, there were only three thousand people who joined me in following the Dharma protocols, generated immeasurable faith, and bowed along with me to the names of these buddhas. Today, seeing them in the present throughout the ten directions, all have attained correct enlightenment.
