The Buddha said: "Excellent, excellent, Maitreya! Bodhisattvas who practice emptiness thoroughly understand rootlessness: neither arising nor not arising, without counterpart in the future, not abiding in the present, already ceased in the past, without attachment, without severance, not abiding, and also not non-abiding."
