佛告彌勒：「五地菩薩分別下品，於六住分或見或不見識法所趣。不退轉菩薩上至一生補處，不見如來上足下足心識所向。次第菩薩見八、七、六，然復不見一生補處舉足下足，況欲敲鈎鎖骸骨欲分別之，此事不然。」

The Buddha told Maitreya, "A bodhisattva on the fifth ground discerns lower levels, and with regard to the stage of the sixth abode, sometimes sees and sometimes does not see where the mental phenomena tend. From an avaivartika bodhisattva up to an ekajātipratibaddha, none sees the direction of the mental consciousness of the Tathāgata as he raises or lowers his foot. A bodhisattva of progressive stages sees the eighth, seventh, and sixth, yet still does not see an ekajātipratibaddha raising or lowering his foot—how much less could one strike and examine the interlocked skeletal bones, desiring to discern them? That cannot be so."
