「『杻械鐵鎖靽，鑊湯熱銅柱；
洋銅熱鉗叉，償對今不久。
自造因緣本，報業無人作；
非父母兄弟，誰能代受苦？
我願出家學，守戒不妄犯；
行正法平等，猶尚日三煮。』

"‘The cangue, fetters, iron chains, and hobbles,
the boiling caldrons and burning copper pillars,
the molten copper, hot pincers, and forks—
your retribution to repay is now not far off.
You yourself created the root of causes and conditions;
no one else performed the karma that brings retribution.
Neither parents nor brothers—
who could suffer in your place?
I wished to go forth into homelessness and learn,
guarding the precepts without reckless transgression;
practicing the true Dharma with impartiality,
yet still I am boiled three times a day.’"
