7.112

爾時，佛取滅度已經七日七夜，時大迦葉告五百阿羅漢：「打揵椎集眾，卿五百人盡詣十方諸佛世界，諸有得阿羅漢六通清徹者，盡集此閻浮提詣雙樹間。釋迦文尼佛今以捨壽取般涅槃，耶維已訖起七寶塔，今集眾欲得演出真性法身。汝等速集聽採微妙之言。」爾時五百阿羅漢受大迦葉教，以神足力如人屈伸臂頃，即到十方恒河沙剎土，集諸羅漢得八億四千眾，來集到忍界聽受法言。

At that time, seven days and seven nights had already passed since the Buddha’s parinirvāṇa. Then Mahākāśyapa addressed the five hundred arhats: “Strike the gaṇḍī and assemble the multitude! You five hundred, go to the Buddha-worlds of the ten directions; all who have attained the six superknowledges of the arhat and are pure and clear, assemble them all in this Jambudvīpa, at the Twin Trees. Śākyamuni Buddha has now cast off his life and entered parinirvāṇa; the jhāpita has ended and the seven-jeweled stūpas have been erected. Now we assemble the multitude wishing to bring forth the dharmakāya of true nature. Hasten to gather and listen to the subtle and wondrous words!” Then the five hundred arhats, receiving Mahākāśyapa’s instruction, by their power of ṛddhi, in the time it takes a person to bend or stretch an arm, reached the lands of the ten directions as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, gathering eight hundred and forty thousand arhats, who came to assemble in the Sahā World to listen to and receive the words of the Dharma.
