爾時，迦葉見眾已集，語優波離：「卿為維那，唱阿難下。」即受教唱下阿難。「卿是佛侍者，今有大過於我等所，卿自知不也？」

At that time, Kāśyapa, seeing that the assembly had gathered, said to Upāli, "You are to serve as the karmadāna and call for Ānanda to step down." Having received the instruction, [Upāli] then called for Ānanda to step down: "You were the Buddha's attendant, yet now you have committed great faults against us. Do you know this yourself or not?"
