At that time, in the assembly there was a bodhisattva named Mūrdharāja, who, leading twenty-five thousand people, came to the Buddha's place from the eastern world called Well-Established. Bowing his head and face to the [Buddha's] feet, he sat to one side. After a moment, he withdrew from his seat, stepped forward, and said to the Buddha: "I have heard that the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, Vidyācaraṇasampanna, Sugata, Lokavid, Anuttara, Puruṣadamyasārathi, Śāstādevamanuṣyāṇām, Buddha, Bhagavat, through immeasurable divine transformations, teaches and transforms while in the womb, where seven-jeweled palaces are accomplished of various jewels, and all Buddhas and Bhagavats revere and honor him. Past Buddhas and Bhagavats, as well as those of the future and present, have never before expounded this rare Dharma; the true reality and the marks of phenomena cannot be exhausted. Over immeasurable eons, one accumulates practices through diligence and hardship, and in the midst of this there is arising and ceasing. We wish to hear of the distinctions among the many lands transformed by the Tathāgata's divine virtue: all practices being equal, entering the unconditioned path, the eight liberations of the pure brahmacārya of youth, so that we may forever be free of doubt."
