At that time, the bodhisattvas of that land adjusted their Dharma robes. Five hundred and seventy-two million bodhisattvas paid homage at that Buddha's feet, vanished all at once, and arrived in the Sahā World. Śākyamuni Buddha again used the supernormal power of his concentrated mind to make those visiting bodhisattvas unable to see Śākyamuni. The place of preaching was surrounded and blocked on four sides, so from Jambudvīpa throughout the three thousand great thousandfold lands, they searched for Śākyamuni Buddha of the Sahā World. Those bodhisattvas said to one another: "Our realm in the empty space above is extremely far from here. Could the light we saw just now mean that Śākyamuni Buddha entered parinirvāṇa and emitted this light? Could we have lost our supernormal vision of the divine eye? Why is it that, having travelled through all the worlds in the ten directions, we do not know where he is?" Each produced this thought and contemplated within: "We had better return to our original realm." Having had this thought, none could reach their original Buddha-lands. Filled with terror, their hair stood on end. Thinking they had lost their supernormal bases, weariness and dejection arose in their minds, and they could not fathom the inexhaustible Dharma treasury. Why was this? It was all caused by Śākyamuni's awesome spiritual power. The Buddha knew the minds of all those bodhisattvas, and immediately used his supernormal bases to receive them into his mother's womb. Then those bodhisattvas paid homage with redoubled reverence, inquired after him on their Buddha's behalf, and sat to one side.
