「第一慚愧者，自惟我與釋迦如來同為凡夫，而今世尊成道以來，以經爾所塵沙劫數，而我等相與耽染六塵，流浪生死永無出期，此實天下可慚可愧可羞可恥。

"First, as for shame and remorse: one reflects that oneself and the Tathāgata Śākyamuni were both ordinary mortals, yet since the World-Honoured One achieved the Way, as many kalpas as the sands of dust have elapsed, while we have indulged in and been defiled by the six dusts together, drifting in birth and death with never any date of departure. This is truly the most shameful, embarrassing, disgraceful, and humiliating thing in the world.
